Learn how to make Black Eye coffee at home with simple tools, clear steps, and a strong flavor using brewed coffee and espresso shots.
The Process
Heat Water: Heat water to about 90–96°C (195–205°F). Avoid boiling water because it can make coffee bitter.
Brew Regular Coffee: Add 1–2 tbsp ground coffee to your coffee maker or pour-over. Brew 1 cup (240 ml) of coffee. Pour into your mug and keep hot.
Prepare Espresso Shots: Grind espresso beans finely. Pull two espresso shots (about 30 ml each). This should take about 25–30 seconds per shot if using an espresso machine.
Combine: Pour the two espresso shots directly into the brewed coffee. Stir gently.
Customize (Optional): Add sugar, syrup, milk, or cream if desired. Drink immediately while hot.
