This easy homemade chai latte recipe shows you how to prepare one warm, creamy cup using simple spices and clear steps.

The Process

01.

Boil the Spices: Add 1 cup water to a small saucepan. Add ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, and peppercorns. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 3–4 minutes to extract flavors.

02.

Add Tea: Add the black tea (tea bag or loose leaves). Simmer for 2–3 minutes. The water will turn deep brown.

03.

Add Milk & Sugar: Pour in ½ cup milk and add sugar. Stir well.

04.

Simmer Again: Let the mixture come to a gentle boil. Lower heat and simmer 2–3 minutes. For stronger chai, simmer slightly longer.

05.

Strain & Serve: Turn off heat. Strain into your mug. Serve hot.
