Fresh hibiscus tea is simple to make at home using dried hibiscus flowers, hot water, and a few optional flavors for a refreshing drink.
The Process
Boil the water: Pour 1 cup of water into a saucepan or kettle and bring it to a boil.
Add hibiscus flowers: Once the water boils, add 1 tablespoon dried hibiscus flowers.
Simmer: Lower the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes. The water will turn a deep red color.
Turn off heat and steep: Turn off the heat and let the tea steep for another 2 minutes for stronger flavor.
Strain the tea: Pour the tea through a strainer into your cup to remove the flowers.
Add flavorings: Stir in honey or sugar and lemon juice if desired.
Serve: Drink it hot, or let it cool and add ice for iced hibiscus tea.
