A simple guide to making a smooth iced Shakerato at home using espresso, ice, and shaking technique for a refreshing café-style drink.
The Process
Brew Espresso Brew 1 fresh espresso shot (30 ml). Immediately add sugar and stir until fully dissolved so the drink remains smooth and not grainy after shaking.
Load the Shaker Add the hot sweetened espresso and 6–8 ice cubes into the shaker or sealed jar.
Shake Vigorously Seal tightly and shake hard for 15–20 seconds. The shaker should feel very cold, and foam will begin forming as air mixes into the coffee.
Strain Remove the chilled glass from the freezer and strain the drink into it while leaving ice behind to keep the texture silky.
Serve Immediately Add optional garnish such as lemon peel, cocoa powder, or coffee beans. Serve right away while the foam is fresh and creamy.
