Latte recipes, how to make a latte at home, and easy latte instructions help beginners prepare a smooth coffee drink using espresso and milk in just a few minutes. A latte is a smooth coffee drink made with espresso and steamed milk. This simple guide explains how to prepare a balanced latte at home using easy steps, basic tools, and clear measurements.
The Process
Step 1: Brew the Espresso: Prepare 1 shot of espresso using an espresso machine. If you do not have one, brew strong coffee using a moka pot or AeroPress. Pour the espresso directly into your mug.
Step 2: Heat the Milk: Warm the milk to about 60–65°C (140–150°F). Avoid boiling because overheated milk loses sweetness and texture. Heat gently on the stove or microwave for 30–45 seconds.
Step 3: Froth the Milk: Create fine foam using a milk frother for 10–15 seconds. You may also shake milk in a jar or pump a French press until small bubbles form. Tap lightly to remove large bubbles.
Step 4: Combine: Slowly pour the hot milk into the espresso. Hold back foam with a spoon at first, then add a thin foam layer on top to finish the latte.
