Ratio & Matter
- 2–3 fresh oranges (medium size; typically yield about 1 cup / 240 ml juice), 1–2 teaspoons sugar or honey (optional), 2–3 tablespoons cold water (optional, if juice is too strong), and ice cubes (optional).
Apparatus
- Citrus juicer (manual or electric) or blender, knife, cutting board, strainer or sieve (optional if you prefer pulp-free juice), glass or cup for serving, and a spoon for stirring.
Fresh orange juice is a simple drink made from natural citrus fruit. This guide shows how to prepare a single serving quickly at home.
The Process
Juice the oranges: Place each orange half on the citrus juicer and press while twisting to extract the juice. If using a blender, peel the oranges, remove seeds, and blend for about 20–30 seconds.
Strain (optional): Pour the juice through a strainer into a glass if you want a smooth drink without pulp.
Adjust the taste: Add sugar or honey if the oranges taste sour, and add a small amount of cold water if you want a lighter flavor.
Add ice (optional): Place 2–3 ice cubes into the glass for a chilled drink.
Stir and serve: Stir the juice well and drink it immediately for the best fresh taste.
