Making a single serving scone at home is simple and practical. This guide shows the ingredients, equipment, preparation, and baking steps clearly. The process takes about 25 minutes, which makes it a good choice for a quick homemade snack. Each step is written in clear language so beginners can follow easily. The result is a warm, soft scone that pairs well with tea, coffee, butter, or jam.
The Process
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl combine: flour. sugar. baking powder. salt. Mix well using a fork.
Add Butter: Add the cold butter cubes to the flour mixture. Use a fork or your fingers to rub the butter into the flour until it looks like coarse crumbs.
Add Liquid: Pour in the milk (and vanilla if using). Mix gently until the dough just comes together. Do not overmix or the scone will become dense.
Shape the Dough: Lightly flour a surface and shape the dough into a small circle about 2 cm thick. You can: keep it whole for 1 large scone, or cut into 2 small wedges.
Optional Add-ins: If adding raisins, berries, or chocolate chips, fold them gently into the dough before shaping.
Bake: Place the dough on the baking tray and bake for 12–15 minutes until the top is light golden brown.
Cool Slightly: Let the scone cool for 3–5 minutes before eating.
